Ask any one out there what they key to making money out there and they will tell you that with enough traffic you can sell any thing. So what do they mean by traffic essentially it’s the number of views of your website. The more unique hits mean the more people are visiting your site.  I personally prefer to look at unique hits and then number of vists. A good sign is to obviously have a high number unique hits and roughly double again in vists.  This means not only are you attracting new people but they are returning to view your blog. Its good to understand that there are two types of traffic, targeted ( the people viewing your site have found it by either searching or browsing through a site related to yours) or un-targeted. Obviously targeted traffic is they key if your wishing to sell.

So what are they ways of getting traffic:

1. The quickest and simplest way of getting targeted traffic is to pay for it. Using google adwords you can hundreds/thousands of people to view your site in just a single day. Be careful with this its not something to rush into as you could soon find your self on the breadline. Paid traffic can be expensive.

2. Social Networking, every ones doing it and there are now so many sites with so much traffic that its possible to piggy back on them. Getting actively involved on social networking sites such as facebook myspace and bebo can provide you with great traffic. The biggest down side in my opinion to this traffic is that people use these sites when they are bored. It will take a good sales job to convert these people from browsers to potential customers.

3. Articles, there are hundreds of article sites out there and a good well written article with a catchy headline can provide you with traffic off the back of it. One of the most popular sites is Ezine Articles.  Remember the secret of getting your article noticed is to have a catchy headline that people find curious enough to click. If you are trying to sell a product or an ebook make sure you subtly sell through the article so by the time they have finished reading they already want to buy.
